You said that in your best Oprah voice, right?!?!

oprah

You know that mashups makes my favorite things list like every.single.day right????

Well…I stumbled upon a new site today with some pretty fantastic stuff. I haven’t picked out an absolute favorite yet (One More Jump is up there), but there are a few that are tickling my fancy (Disco Boys & Girls, Girls Just Wanna Dance, ROCK This).

Head on over to Robin Skouteris’ site to check em out! Free downloads too! Now if that doesn’t make for one fantastic Friday, I don’t know what does.

You get a free song! And you get a free song! And you get a free song! (<—that’s Oprah again!)

New mashup alert!

Wow! It has been a while since I’ve posted a mashup of the week. Well, I’ve got a winner for you today!!! I found this gem while putting together my “end of summer” playlist for my upcoming class on Saturday. I mean, I am really stoked on this song. It’s amazing how finding an awesome new song energizes my whole being. I think you could use it for a fast tempo climb, jumps, or a tabata. I think I’ll be going with fast tempo climb. Ah, I feel as giddy as a school girl right now. I really hope you guys like this one. Happy Friday!!!!

Mashup of the Week

Ok, so I know I have never done this post weekly. Maybe that will change…maybe not. All I know is that I am on the search for some new music since I start teaching again next month. Wee! Can you feel my excitement?!?! If you have any good tunes for me to check out, let me know!

Today, I found this mashup. I mean, Men at Work vs Avicii– how could you go wrong??? I was a bit skeptical, but upon first listen, I fell in love. I’m thinking this will be good for some sprints!

Wake Me Up Down Under Mashup

What do you think??? Did it get your mashup mojo going? I hope so!

Mashuptastic

Your mashup of the week is here! I don’t know about you, but I love me some Phil Collins. He just gets me. A spin teacher I use to have would play “In the Air Tonight” and say that the song was about his divorce. I’m not sure if that is true or not, but I did love her spin classes.

This mashup combines Phil Collins and Nas and is from one of my fav mashup masters, Scott Melker. You can download this track on his website for free right now. Click on the pic of Mr. Trill Collins to listen to the track! The whole album is legit and I may be purchasing the rest of the tracks.

Give it a listen! I’m sure you’re going to love it. I can’t wait to get back to teaching so I can use this in class. Can you say “hill climb”?!?! Oh yeah, baby.

Speaking of babies, Baby G is still not making an appearance. The bike ride didn’t work.

Oh and while we’re talking about Phil Collins, does anyone know what the heck Sussudio means?

Hooray for a snow day!

Welp, it’s a snow day here in Tennessee! We got (maybe) four inches last night, but since there are no plows and I don’t think the roads were salted…a snow day we will all enjoy!

The only kind of scary thing about all this snow and horrible roads is that with 15 days till baby and some cramps starting yesterday…going in to labor would not be ok today. I told Baby G he’s gotta stay in there a few more days, so hopefully he will listen to his mama! I think he will. I now know that Braxton Hicks feel like cramps and not anything like was previously explained.

So, what are my snow day plans? Well, watching Kelly & Michael, getting through Kathy & Hoda, and then Ellen (my fav!). Duh! Possibly some banana bread baking, granola making, and some house cleaning. Oh yeah, and some resting and relaxing combined with checking work emails.

Baking and house cleaning are definitely going to require some music. So, what better time to have a mashup of the week!

Ok now, you are either going to love or hate this mashup. If you love Grease and love Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg…you are going to be one happy camper. If you are my brother and loathe Grease because your annoying sister made you watch it a million billion times, then come back again another day. I’m sorry, I’m not sorry. Oh, and I have used this mashup in class for sprints. My brother would not have approved.

Oh man, this mashup makes me so happy! Day = Made. Dadadadada, it’s the one and only D-O-double G!

The last class(es)

So, I think I’ve been in a minor depression since I taught my last class on Monday, hence the lack of posting. It’s like a part of me has been taken away. It was time to stop teaching. My belly is now interfering with my form, so it was time. I’m going to miss it terribly for the next 3-4 months though.

The good thing is that my last few classes were awesome! My last class at the Y had the best energy…and with 14 people in class on a Thursday, I couldn’t have asked for more! It was nice to hear people say they were going to miss me and that I’d better be back. Oh…I plan on being back. They need not worry!

My Saturday class was all about the loops. We warmed up and then continued on a flat road, followed by jumps on a medium hill, then power climbs done to power ballads, and sprints. This loop was completed three times for the hour class.

The power climbs done to power ballads was inspired by my husband. He has been on a Hot Rod kick and the soundtrack is almost entirely to Europe. Yes, that’s right people, think The Final Countdown.

If you haven’t seen Hot Rod, it’s totally random, but totally amazing. I mean, spoofing the Footloose-Kevin-Bacon-mad-dancing-scene…amazing.

I told you. Amazing.

And you know what else was amazing…the playlist for “Saturday Fun: Loops”:

SaturdayFun

I mean, climbing a hill to “You’re the best around”…how could you not feel like Rocky??? Or at least like Sweet Dee???

I also had a few of my fav mashups on this one:

Annie Lennox. She rules.

I have to say, I’m a fan of some Janelle Monae and this mashup with Nancy Sinatra just makes me happy!

The other new song that I’m pretty stoked about is Jagwar Ma’s, Come Save Me. Thanks to NPR for this find!

So what am I doing with myself now that I’m not spinning? Well, I see some elliptical in my future and I’ve still been hitting up my bootcamp classes. Bootcamp with a lot of modifications, that is. Don’t worry, I’ve still got one more new playlist to put up here and I’m not going to stop posting. I know all five of you were really worried that your most favorite blog wouldn’t be posting anymore. Alas, I can only keep re-organizing the baby room so much!

Bootcamp Mashups and Belly Bandits

Well, my time as a fitness instructor is almost over. Three more classes to teach and then I’m out on instructor maternity leave. I’ll still be at my day job though. Sad face.

It’s kind of crazy that in 40 days (maybe less, maybe more) I will be responsible for a living, breathing, human thing. Ok, not a thing a baby. It’s crazy and a bit scary and totally overwhelming. We are still trying to get everything ready and also take advantage of our last weekends of quiet. We finally got the crib today! It’s still in the box, but it’s in our house. That’s gotta count for something, right?!?!

I’d also like to admit that I’m also really looking forward to being not pregnant. I mean, it’s been fun and all, but really…who loves everyone and their mother commenting on their size, asking how they feel 387 times a day, and getting woken up by hiccups/karate punches/the need to pee constantly in the middle of the night. The only really great thing is the maternity jeans. I mean seriously. Maternity jeans are magnificent. Ok, I like feeling the little guy  move too. Bloggers note: I do realize what a gift it is to be pregnant and I am so thankful that I’ve had such an easy ride so far. I’m not trying to be a d-bag, just trying to keep it real and maybe get a laugh or at least a smile.

In my excitement of countdown to baby, I’ve been debating ordering a Belly Bandit. I know, of all things I should be worrying about/spending money on, shrinking my tummy should not be my number one…and it’s not. BUT, I’m not gonna lie, it’s in the top 10…ok, maybe top 5. Does that make me a bad person? Sorry, I’m not sorry. I don’t want to still look pregnant months after this dude is out in the world. Vain? Maybe. Do I care. Not really. Don’t worry, I’m still stressed about breastfeeding and looking in to classes for that and taking the tour of the hospital. Oh yeah, and getting that crib made too! See, I’m not going to be the worst mother in the world!

Well, I’m not sure how mashups and Belly Bandits really fit in to the same blog post, except for the fact that I’m pretty sure my stomach is going to look pretty mashed-up after the “big show”. So…I owe you my playlist from my New Year’s Day bootcamp class that was overwhelmingly attended by all of two people. Yep. It was epic. Well, if you are a mashup fan, then at least the playlist might be epic. And maybe the class was epic for those two amazing souls who ventured out on New Year’s Day despite their hangovers. They were the real champs. The workout could be epic for you too! Have you tried it yet???

Ok workout guilt trip over. On to the tunes. P.S. There were a couple more songs on my playlist to make it a bit over 30 minutes, but they weren’t mashups, so I haven’t included them here. Here we go:

I love DJ Earworm! Always a good time.

Some old school Diana Ross mashed with Dead or Alive. A lot of spinning around happening here!

Adele vs The Eurythmics- Big fan of this one!

What would 2013 have been without Gangnam Style? BORING!

Journey vs Avicili- Truth: I have no idea how you pronounce Avicili.

Hope you are all having a great weekend!
